Pat Farr has a long history of service in Lane County and in Oregon. He has held top positions in private, nonprofit and public sectors.
He has been a member of the Oregon House of Representatives, elected from House District 14, representing Eugene and rural Lane County. As a member of the Legislature, he was Assistant Majority Leader and served as vice-chair of the House Education Committee, and was a member of the House Revenue Committee and the joint House/Senate committees on Tax Reform and Education.
He served eight years as a Eugene City Councilor. He chaired the Council Committee on Homelessness and Youth and served on council committees on Telecommunications, Economics and Environment, Affordable Housing, Citizen Involvement and others.
He has served on the Bethel School District Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors for Oregon Food Bank, SELCO Credit Union, CVALCO, and Oregon Health Practices Research Northwest, the Home Center Institute Education Advisory Board and others.
He has been a member of the Lane County Human Services Commission, Lane County Housing Policy Board; Eugene Human Rights Commission, Oregon Commission on Child Care, Oregon Hunger Relief Task Force and Southern Willamette Private Industry Council.
He was Executive Director of FOOD for Lane County, leading the nonprofit through an unstable financial and difficult public image period to become a secure and sustainable leader in Oregon not for profit organizations.
He worked with Jerry’s Home Improvement Center for nearly two decades, helping Jerry’s to grow from a small local business to a national leader in its field. He has been general manager of Gray’s Garden Centers and All in One True Value Hardware Stores.
Recently he has worked with the Lindholm Company and has helped develop revenue sources and guide contributions for a wide variety of not for profit agencies.
He was elected to serve again on the Eugene City Council in May 2010, winning a two-thirds majority of the vote.
Pat is currently serving as a Lane County Commissioner, representing North Eugene.
