Biography:
Joe Pishioneri currently sits on the Springfield City Council representing the people of the Thurston area in Ward 6.

He and his wife, Mary, have lived in Springfield for more than 30 years.  Family keeps Joe and Mary busy as they raise two children, Megan and Anthony, and participate in school and community activities.

A proud Lane County Deputy Sheriff with 24 years of service, assigned as “Special Services Officer”. Joe earned his Associates Degree in Applied Science Criminal Justice from Lane Community College.

Hard work and determination best describes Joe.  When he was 15 years old, he went to work at Scott’s Restaurant in Eugene.  At 19 years old he was managing the restaurant. When he was 14, he joined Lane County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue as an Explorer Scout.  He became a Eugene Police Cadet at 16 years old.

Joe became a Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy when he was 23, and was hired full time in January 1986.

While working at the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Joe earned his associates degree at Lane Community College, attended both the Corrections Academy and Police Academy, and attained advanced certifications in both disciplines. This is a rare achievement in the public safety sector. He has been an instructor in several areas for the Sheriff’s Office for over 15 years.

Living in Springfield since 1980, 23 years later Joe decided it was time to get VERY involved. He won a multi-candidate race for Springfield City Council in 2004 and was re-elected (unopposed) in 2008.

Joe’s involvement in Springfield includes chairing the Springfield Finance and Judiciary Committee, chairing the Springfield Economic Development agency (Glenwood), and chairing the Springfield Economic Development agency (Downtown).  He also serves on the boards of LCOG, McKenzie Watershed Council, the Executive Board of Travel Lane County (CVALCO), and is a member of the Springfield Municipal Jail Operations committee.

He enjoys hunting, fishing, family camping and neighborhood Bar-B-Q’s.
