I concur completely. Please keep a close eye on this one. Get engaged and be part of keeping our diversity where it really counts! Attend the McKenzie Watershed Council meetings and speak out.

We have a very diverse community and I am grateful for this, however it is not condusive to "diversity" if we alienate the lifestyle that this community was formed by. As a logging community of the past, the families that moved here 125 years ago lived off the land. People in vastly populated states tour our wonderful state to experience nature and enjoy the many amazing ammenities that we have the luxory to take for granted. It would be very "narrow minded" to limit the experience to "hatcheries" and artificially simulated experiences. We need to use our special environment to pull tourism dollars and provide family friendly recreation and promote good stewardship concerning what nature has provided and man has sustained.

It would be a shame to allow those special interest groups to prevail at the expense of the families that rely on this as recreation. Where does diversity play in that picture?

Keep on keeping on, Alex. You have support out there from those people who know a little bit about what the county is facing. My time as a victim advocate gave me good reason to respect what the District Attorney and law enforcement have done with little resources.

Fighting crime, and all other social problems, begins with education. Education for technology isn't doing the job education for good citizenship once did. Every child should know we protect our liberty by obeying the laws, but this is no longer explained. When we first mandated free public education, it was to teach good citizenship and stop social problems that were increasing with the increasing immigration. We didn't leave it to parents to teach their children good citizenship, but knew their parents would learn from the children. This is the most effective and cost efficient way to have social order.

If we were to apply the Castle Doctrine in Oregon as has 2 other states we could lower crime. Also informing the people that they are thier first line of protection. I for one will not hesitate to protect myself or someone else even with the knowledge that I will be subject to wholsale ridcule.
